Company Profile

Seniors Helping Seniors Central Florida
Company Overview
Seniors Helping Seniors is a home care service with a very unique model of care. As our name suggests, we hire exclusively seniors to be caregivers because they can better relate to the needs, interests, personal values and limitations of seniors. This unique peer-to-peer model of caregiving enables us to make the relationship a primary goal of every care interaction. We are licensed (# 239296) with AHCA under the Homemaker & Companion License and bonded/insured.
There are many goals and benefits of the care we provide depending on the unique circumstances of each care receiver. Here’s a few scenarios to understand how different care partners benefit from our services:
The Direct Care Receiver - we are often focused on keeping them both active and safe to thrive in their own homes with less stress. In some instances our aim is to make sure they are adhering to a post discharge treatment plan to avoid complications and rehospitalizations.
Family Caregiver - Often the primary beneficiary of our services is a family caregiver who needs a break. When we are with their loved one, they have time to do the necessary things for them to take care of themselves.
Remote Family Members – Especially in Florida, many seniors have concerned family members in other states, unable to be present to help take care of their loved ones. Our service gives them the peace of mind that their senior loved one is safe and thriving. We have a “family room” secure portal for them to log into where they can see notes and pictures of their loved one to know they are having a good day.
Healthcare Providers & Payers – As healthcare becomes more fragmented, the gap between care settings is widening. Seniors spend over 95% of their time somewhere other than a medical care setting, and that is where their environment and behavior determines their health outcomes. Our care fills a hole in the care continuum between care settings to help keep seniors safe, happy, and healthy and thereby reducing rehospitalizations and the need for unnecessary healthcare utilization. Providers, especially those in value-based relationships with their patients benefit from healthier and happier patients.
Company History
Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care service was co-founded by Kiran and Philip Yocom in order to realize Kiran’s personal mission of providing care for those who can’t care for themselves. Before coming to the United States from India, Kiran worked with Mother Teresa for 14 years.
From our roots in Pennsylvania, and our first match in 1998, Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services has grown to include hundreds of locations in the US and Internationally. We continue to grow and evolve, adding new services to better assist seniors and refining our caregiver training as new industry best practices come to light.
The unique Seniors Helping Seniors model of care was brought to Central Florida just this year for the first time.
Benefits
The typical Seniors Helping Seniors care giver is looking for part time work to give back and supplement their retirement income. We do offer profit sharing and a bonus structure for client and caregiver referrals. And then of course the biggest benefit is flexible hours and the ability to feel good about making a difference.
